Awards shortlist for Cramlington band The Ramsays

A CRAMLINGTON band could be playing alongside Gomez at the final of the Red Stripe Music Award.

The Ramsays have made it to a shortlist of 20 bands from across the country who may get a chance to play alongside rhythm and blues masters Gomez at the final of the Red Stripe Music Award competition at London's Kentish Town Forum on Tuesday, May 5.

Now in its third year, the Red Stripe Music Award has hosted more than 150 bands at 27 of the UK's best loved live music venues since January.

The wait is almost over for The Ramsays who will get to hear whether they will be selected as one of four to play at the final on the April 20, alongside Gomez.

With slots at three of the summer's major festivals including The Great Escape, LoveBox and Blissfields guaranteed for the winner, The Red Stripe Music Award looks to offer these talented musicians a platform to get themselves noticed by both the public and the industry.

Red Stripe's Jonny Kirkham said: "This award is a celebration of every thriving live music scene across the country.

"The quality of the bands this year has been outstanding which is why it's so important for us to have a band like Gomez involved at the final."

The first batch of tickets to the Red Stripe Music Award final on Tuesday, May 5, are now available at www.redstripe.net
