Bingo club four in sky-dive challenge

FOUR brave bingo club staff will be taking to the skies in September for an exhilarating fundraising challenge.

Anna Mason, Kayleigh Greener, Simon Gibb and Carol Scott, from Mecca Bingo in Blyth, will carry out a sponsored sky-dive to raise money for children's mobility charity Whizz-Kidz.

Mecca Bingo workers across the country are taking part in the challenge simultaneously at different airfields as part of an aim to raise

250,000 for the charity throughout the year.

Anna described the latest challenge as the most exciting and nerve-wracking fundraising event the team had ever done.

"Everyone has been so generous with their donations," she said.

"But I would urge anyone who hasn't already donated to dig deep.

"After all, it's not everyday we offer to throw ourselves out of a plane!"

An impressive 100,000 has been raised nationally so far, and other fundraising events at the Blyth club include staff members donning rollerboots for a day.

Whizz-Kidz Chief Executive Ruth Owen added: "The charity is almost 100 per cent reliant on voluntary funds so events like this are really important.

"Around 70,000 kids nationally are in need of vital mobility equipment, and everyone will know someone in their community or family that could benefit from our work.

"We are thrilled to hear about the skydiving event and would like to wish everyone a safe landing."
