STARSTRUCK pupils were treated to a gig in their own school by a group of lads who once made it to the final of Britain’s Got Talent.

Boy band ReConnected chatted to students at The Blyth School Community College, posed for pictures and signed autographs, before performing a number of songs, including their new single One In A Million’.

The band which started life as five-piece, Connected, and appeared on the show in 2010, now consists of Matthew Fitzgerald and brothers Harry and Max Mondryk.

The trio was taking time out from supporting Little Mix on their UK tour and were in the region to perform at Newcastle City Hall.

Teacher Gary Thompson organised the band’s visit as a way of rewarding top students.

Gary said: “My original thought was that this would be a fantastic opportunity for some of our music students to meet an up-and-coming band and to see a live performance, so I was delighted when the band agreed to perform at the school.

“I then realised that it would also be a way of rewarding those students who have demonstrated exemplary behaviour, attitude and commitment to their learning since the start of the school year.

“I would like to thank ReConnected for their excellent performance and for spending so much time talking to our young people. They have been inspirational.”
