Car owners urged to check vehicles are locked

MOTORISTS are being reminded to lock their cars after two recent crimes.

Thieves got into a car parked in Southward Close in Seaton Sluice, between 9.30pm on Wednesday, October 31, and 7.30am on Thursday, November 1, where they stole a holdall containing sports equipment.

Around the same time thieves got into a truck parked in Queens Road and stole a wallet, a small amount of cash and personal documents.

Enquiries into the crimes are ongoing and police are appealing for witnesses.

Neighbourhood Inspector Trevor Oakley said: “Lock your vehicles overnight and when you leave them.

“Don’t leave valuables inside or on show in your car and report anyone hanging around cars unnecessarily or behaving suspiciously to police straight away.”
