A Cramlington care home has scored highly in a national survey of residents.

Astor Court in East Cramlington has recently taken part in the country’s largest and most authoritative survey of care home residents.

The home has come out with an overall performance rating (OPR) of 923 out of 1,000.

The nation-wide survey, called Your Care Rating, is designed to give residents a voice, putting their care at the heart of understanding more about how well care homes perform.

Astor Court achieved scores of 946 out of 1,000 for choice and having a say, and 941 out of 1,000 for staff and overall quality of care

Mandy Mackley, care manager at Astor Court Care home, said: “We’re delighted with our results from the 2013 Your Care Rating survey as it demonstrates how fulfilled our residents are.

“All of our scores across the four main themes are high and it just goes to show that the reality of day-to-day life in a care home such as ours is very good.

“That said, we still want to get even better and the results give us crucial feedback on where we can improve.”

More than 20,000 residents in 1,055 care homes across the UK took part in the Your Care Rating.
