Caroline Crawford from Richmond Way at Barns Park, Cramlington seen with her children Charlotte Crawford (11) and Cameron Crawford (9)-she is organising a charity ball for meningitis.

A CRAMLINGTON mum is showing her appreciation to a charity which helped her when she was seriously ill.

Caroline Crawford was struck down with meningococcal bacteria meningitis in December 2008.

She became ill with flu-like symptoms and was rushed to Wansbeck General Hospital.

Caroline’s husband Philip trusted his instincts and demanded medical attention.

Thankfully she made a full recovery and is now planning to raise money for the Meningitis Trust by holding a Champagne and Feathers Ball.

“It will be a truly wonderful evening and I am very excited to be able to give something back to a charity so close to my heart,” she said.

“I want to raise vital funds, as well as life-saving awareness –so many people are not as lucky as I was.

“There will be a champagne reception, a four-course meal, bacon sandwiches at midnight and live entertainment with the Anna Reay Band & Disco.

“There are some fantastic raffle and auction prizes up for grabs too.”

The event takes place at the Marriott Gosforth Park on Saturday, March 3.

To reserve tickets contact Caroline on 07801 088596 or e-mail cjcrawford@talktalk.net

The Meningitis Trust relies on the generosity of individuals to continue its vital work supporting anyone affected by meningitis with free professional services.

For the many people who have been, and continue to be, affected by meningitis, and for those who will sadly be affected in the future, the trust is a lifeline.
