Two north east charities are hosting a special football-themed race day on the eve of the new Barclays Premier League season.
The event, at Newcastle Racecourse, is taking place on Friday, August 15, to raise funds for Sunderland AFC’s community charity the Foundation of Light and the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.
BBC’s Total Sport programme will be broadcasting live from the event while a selection of Newcastle United FC and Sunderland AFC special guests are expected to attend throughout the day.
Guests will enjoy Premier Admission to the Gosforth Park Suite, three course lunch, race card, buffet dinner and post race entertainment, including the chance to put their opinions and questions to BBC’s football experts.
Throughout the day there will be a range of games and activities including a special Race Day accumulator where one guest will win hundreds of pounds.
Tickets for the event are available at £85 per person or £825 for a table of ten.
Foundation of Light event coordinator Jemma Garrett said: “We’re very pleased to have teamed up with Sir Bobby Robson Foundation to provide this fantastic opportunity for football fans to enjoy a great day at the races and help two of the region’s leading charities in the process.”
Pauline Buglass, from the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, said: “This will be a very special event for both football and racing fans.
“It’s the day before the Premier League kicks off and a great opportunity for supporters of Sunderland and Newcastle to share their thoughts about the up-coming season.
“Add to that, there’s the wonderful hospitality and excitement of Newcastle Races and the chance to support the work of two local charities.”
