Charity campaigns for more leisure facilities

AN AMBITIOUS charity has been set up to campaign for more sports and leisure facilities across Wansbeck.

Clix4kids, based in Cambois, was created to raise funds with the help of the community to provide more facilities in some of the district's most deprived wards.

Using a novel and unique website with affiliate marketing techniques, the charity is hoping to generate cash with the ultimate aim of building new sports and leisure facilities.

But the charity is not asking for people to donate any money.

All the organisers are asking for is for people to use a new website when shopping online.

Ken Montgomery and Paul Cross are just two of the organisers working out of the Cambois office.

"We want to involve as many people as possible in this project to benefit the local community," said Mr Montgomery.

"We have talked to many of the first schools and community groups and they think it's a fantastic idea.

"They have offered their complete backing and its great to be up and running."

The charity makes money by referring people to online businesses where they can do their shopping, such as Tesco, Amazon or eBay.

Then whenever a sale is made a fee is paid back to Clix4kids for the referral.

This money will then be used to invest in facilities for Wansbeck

"We are still in the early stages but we have massive plans for what we can achieve," said Mr Cross.

"When you talk to people from Wansbeck the real complaint they have is that there is nowhere for their children to go.

"Our ultimate goal would be a new leisure centre, but we don't want to stop there.

"We want to see more tennis courts, football pitches and facilities for the whole community to use.

"All we want is for people to use the site. They may already be buying something online and by clicking through Clix4kids they could help the community of Wansbeck."
