More than 200 children in Blyth have taken part in a special art competition run by the town’s Keel Row shopping centre.

The youngsters were asked to draw the town through their eyes, with a description of what they like best about the town.

And the shopping centre received 234 entries from Blyth Primary School, Horton Grange Primary School and New Delaval Primary School.

The children’s artwork has now been put on display at the centre until Friday, March 14, for the public to view.

And a winner from each school was chosen by a panel of judges.

Ten-year-old Arron Ross from Horton Grange Primary School and Emma McKerracher, nine, from New Deleval Primary School wowed the judges with their drawings and have been crowned as winners.

Keel Row centre manager, Callum Reid, said: “I’m absolutely thrilled with the brilliant job the pupils did for this competition.

“We had a fantastic amount of applicants and I’m very proud to be able to display the children’s artwork at the centre.

“I would like to congratulate both Arron and Emma for their outstanding paintings and hope they enjoy their prize.”
