Hundreds of young people took to the circus as part of a special Scouts event.

More than 1,400 youngsters from around the region, including Blyth and Cramlington, took part in Northumberland Scouts’ ‘Circus Marra’ four-day event at Causey Park Farm, Morpeth.

A range of adventures were teamed up with all the fun of the circus.

Young people aged eight to 18 took part in activities such as archery, zorbing, climbing and drumming, joined by a professional circus team.

Abigail McKnight, aged 11, from the 2nd Seaton Delaval Scout Group, said: “I had a brilliant weekend and all the activities and challenges were fantastic.”

Luke Davies, 14, an explorer scout from Cramlington, added: “My favourite activity was definitely the rifle shooting, I had never done it before and I really enjoyed it.”

Stu Bennett, marketing and communications manager for the event, said: “This has been our biggest and best marra camp to date, with the circus theme providing a fantastic setting for a big weekend of fun, adventure and friendship.”

“The atmosphere on site was electric, and it was amazing to see so many young people learning new skills and having a blast.”
