A couple who met when they bumped into each other on a bus in Portsmouth have celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.

Raymond and Dorothy Wiltshire, who live in Blyth, met in 1950 when they were both on a bus to the dockyard in Portsmouth, where Raymond, 83, was in the Royal Navy and Dorothy, 81, was on holiday visiting her aunt.

They married on January 2, 1954, in Blyth, and went on to have two children, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Raymond served in the Royal Navy for 25 years and Dorothy was a shorthand typist.
