Cramlington paving the way with neighbourhood plan

A town council in the county is one of the Government’s ‘front runners’ helping to establish a new form of development plan.

Cramlington Town Council is starting work on a Neighbourhood Plan for the town and is inviting the local community and businesses to become involved.

Neighbourhood Planning is a new way of allowing communities to work together to plan for new development needed in their area, which will influence what facilities are provided in the area, and where and how development happens.

A steering group, made up of local councillors, residents, community groups and business representatives, has been established for the project, chaired by town councillor Trevor Ambrose.

Residents and local businesses are being encouraged to get involved with producing the Plan which will have a big influence on future development in Cramlington.

Drop-in events will be held where members of the Neighbourhood Plan team will be available to talk to, on Saturday, March 15, between 10am and 4pm at Manor Walks Shopping Centre, Monday, April 7, between 3pm and 7pm at Mayfield Glade Community Centre, and Tuesday, April 22, between 3pm and 7pm at Beaconhill Centre.
