Dancers taught how JazzWorks in workshop
We have lift off!........Dancers at Blyth Community College (left to right) Jade Whiteman, Jessica Taylor, Alex Joseph, Katelynn Jefferson, Lauren Welsh, Megan Dowes and Shannon Middlemiss.
YOUNG dancers learned how to strut their stuff when professional musicians and dancers visited their school for a workshop.
The 44 music and dance students at The Blyth School Community College took part in JazzWorks, a one-day educational programme of music and dance run by Jazz FM.
The project was brought to the school because of its partnership with children’s charity Place2Be.
The charity has worked to support pupils, parents and teachers at The Blyth School Community College for five years.
Jazz musician Adrian York and his team of professional musicians and dancers led the workshop, which culminated in a concert of well-known jazz styles.
The Blyth School Community College’s Place2Be project manager Hollie Rankin added: “Our music and dance pupils had a fantastic day, learning about and performing jazz music and dance.”
