Workers at the Banks Group have redoubled their fundraising efforts after choosing to support the same charity for the second year running.
Employees raised £4,000 for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research during 2012, and have added a further £4,000 to the charity’s pot after choosing it as their charity focus for 2013.
Staff from Banks’ different businesses and locations took part in various fundraising activities over the year.
And several fundraisers gathered at the company’s Brenkley Lane surface mine in south east Northumberland to present the money to Catriona Tait, Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research’s regional fundraising manager for the north.
Catriona said: “Many thanks to everyone at The Banks Group for the wonderful fundraising and support throughout 2012 and 2013.
“The fantastic total of £8,000 raised is a terrific contribution to our work to beat blood cancer.”
Mark Dowdall, environment and community director at Banks, added: “Along with many of my colleagues at Banks Group we have loved ones who have been affected by leukaemia and lymphoma, so there was a real drive to do as much as we could across the team, and we’re really pleased to have matched last year’s total.”
