Driver, 45, killed in collision with motorcycle

POLICE have named a motorist killed in an accident in Morpeth on Saturday.

Mark Pearson, 45, of Pottery Bank in Morpeth, was killed following a collision between a motorcycle and a car on the A697 near Heighley Gate on Saturday.

Mr Pearson was driving the car involved in the accident, which happened at 11.45am.

The motorcyclist remains in hospital recovering from his injuries.

Sergeant Jason Ryder said after the collision: “This as been a tragic incident and my thoughts are with the families of the deceased and the injured man.

“I would urge anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward to police to establish the full circumstances of what has happened.”
