Drugs found in properties during raids

SIX people have been arrested in Bedlington after police executed ten warrants against suspected drugs criminals.

The six were arrested for drug offences and handling stolen and counterfeit goods.

Five have been bailed until March and one received a caution.

Officers targeted areas in Tosson Close, Milbank Road, East Green, Queens Road, Allgood Terrace, Phoenix Street and Burnside between Thursday, February 7, and Friday, February 8.

The raids were part of Operation Enterprise, and a number of cannabis plants were seized along with items of suspected stolen and counterfeit goods.

Inspector Karen Murray, of the Bedlington neighbourhood policing team said: “We are listening to the concerns of local people and taking action.

“The residents of Bedlington have told us about the supply and use of drugs in the area and the crime associated with it.

“Operation Enterprise is focused on taking robust action to catch those involved in drug-related crime of any sort.

“Together with the information we get from the public, we are determined to cut crime and disorder in the area and keep Bedlington a safe place to live, work and socialise.”
