Drugs warrant leads to three arrests in Northumberland

DRUGS and suspected stolen property have been recovered and three people arrested after police executed a drugs warrant in Northumberland.

At 4.10pm yesterday (Thursday) police carried out the warrant at an address in Chesnut Street, in Ashington.

Cannabis with an estimated street value of more than £700 was seized along with property.

Officers are continuing to carry out enquiries to identify who the property belongs to.

Inspector Barrie Joisce, of Ashington neighbourhood policing team, said: “Drugs bring misery to our communities and we will continue to take robust action against those suspected of being involved in either cultivating or supplying drugs.

“If anyone has any information about drugs and drugs supply we’d urge them to contact us as information we receive from members of the public is vital in helping us take them off our streets.”

Two men aged 21 and 16 have been charged with drug offences. A 42-year-old woman has been given a caution.
