A family from south east Northumberland have secured their places in the Great North Run this weekend to raise funds for the NSPCC.
The self-named ‘Motley Crew’ is made up of dad Jim Wood, 58, his brother Iain, 54, and sons Andrew, 36, and James, 28, who live in Seaton Sluice.
Jim, who is raising funds for the NSPCC, said: “Having worked with young people for my entire career, I know how many children grow up in challenging circumstances not of their choosing and where poverty can lead to neglect and abuse in some cases.
“That’s why I decided to run for the NSPCC and help raise funds so that we can say child cruelty is a thing of the past.”
