Festival set to light up 100-year-old town park
A FESTIVAL will illuminate one of Northumberland’s oldest parks.
Northumberland County Council has recently invested funds to install lighting in Blyth’s Ridley Park, enabling visitors and residents alike to walk in the amenity for the first time in the evening as well as during the day.
And to celebrate, the park will host a ‘Winter Family Festival’.
The festival, which runs from noon until 6pm on Saturday, February 23, and Sunday, February 24, will include a synthetic ice-rink, dance exhibitions, craft activities, stalls, children’s rides and a lantern parade.
The official park lights switch-on will take place at 6pm on the Sunday.
The event has been organised by the Friends of Ridley Park with the help of Blyth town centre manager and representative of Blyth Town Team, Malcolm Hutchinson, Blyth Valley Arts and Leisure and Asda.
Mr Hutchinson said: “Further entertainment is also planned and will be confirmed nearer the date so keep an eye out for posters and leaflets.”
