A first school’s 100th anniversary celebrations have helped to kick-start a prestigious new arts project.
Stakeford First School marked its centenary with a summer fair featuring a performance of Mr Doom and Mrs Bloom’s Story Emporium, with actors posing as time travellers collecting stories.
The performance was part of Portraits of Northumberland, which aims to find stories, photographs and memories of Choppington and Guide Post.
And the November Club will bring a horse wagon to Choppington Welfare on July 30 and August 6 where families will work with artists to create a map reflecting the area’s past, present and future.
Jacqueline Rowell, chair personof governors at Stakeford First School, said: “We’ve been collecting stories and pictures from pupils and their families and we are very excited to see what will come out of the project over the summer.”
