Fractured jaw in pub assault

A MAN was knocked unconscious during an assault in a Morpeth pub at the weekend.

The 37-year-old victim was inside The Shambles in Bridge Street when he was attacked.

Police were called to the establishment at around 11.15pm on Saturday.

When officers arrived they found the man unconscious on the floor.

He was taken to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary, where he was treated for a fractured jaw.

His condition is not described as life threatening.

Police are carrying out inquiries in the area and are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident on 101 ext 69191.
