Funding aids production of Golden Guide

EXTRA funding has enabled the printing of more copies of a popular free guide for the over 50s.

The Golden Guide comes packed out with facts and tips on money, health and care, lots of leisure and transport information, all with local contacts around the county.

But funding has ensured the production of a further 1,000 copies of the guide.

Editor Heather Alabaster said: “People find the Golden Guide so useful that now we get requests from all over the county, and it’s not just older people – their families, friends and carers want them too.

“Last year we promised to print more, so we’re delighted to have found sponsorship from Northumberland Tyne & Wear NHS Foundation Trust which has enabled us to publish an extra 1,000 copies.”

The Golden Guide is also supported by partners Northumberland County Council, Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Age UK Northumberland and Isos Housing, along with other generous sponsors.

Daljit Lally, Northumberland’s corporate director of adult services and housing, added: “We’ve supported the Golden Guide for some years now because it’s really important that people can easily get information about the different services and help available.

“This edition includes changes to disability benefits, and details the full range of health and social care support which will help older people stay active, connected and well in their communities.”

For a copy, call Age UK Northumberland on 0845 0950150 and they will post one out to you free.

A full copy will shortly be available at www.alabasterpublishing.co.uk
