A second strike this month by The Fire Brigades Union will take place this Saturday.
Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service has plans in place to provide a service during this latest strike, which will run from 10am to 5pm.
The service has already contacted businesses in the county to help them to minimise the risk from fire, as well as urging residents to take steps to protect themselves and their homes.
Alex Bennett, chief fire officer for Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service, said: “We have a duty to ensure we have robust plans in place to provide a fire and rescue response during industrial action, and we are once again putting these plans in place.
“Homes and businesses should take extra precautions as it will not be business as usual, and we’re asking people to ensure they have working smoke alarms fitted in their homes.
“We know the warm weather can mean an increase in barbecues and it’s worth reminding people to take extra care during the period of industrial action.
“We have contacted businesses and other premises to assist them in further minimising the risk from fire and other emergencies.”
