A Blyth radio presenter has won gold in a national award ceremony.
Gary Hogg picked up a top prize for his ‘The Geordie Hour’ show at the National Hospital Broadcasting awards in Bristol.
The pogramme’s success came in the specialist music category.
The Geordie Hour is produced for Radio Tyneside and Hospital Radio Northumberland and is broadcast in hospitals from North Tyneside to Wansbeck and Blyth, as well as with Radio Northumberland’s online coverage.
Gary said: “Last year we won silver in the same category, so it’s great to come back and win gold.
“The show features north east music, musicians, and entertainers past and present.
“Everything from new unsigned artists to old Geordie songs. Hip hop to barbershop. brass bands to choirs and a fair bit of comedy – anything with a north east link.”
The judges said the show as a great concept, and described it as “wonderfully local to the north east”.
