Gene begins a new role with charity

A new director is looking to help older people in the county as he settles into his new role.

Gene Goodchild is the new head of support services at Age UK Northumberland and is confident he can make a huge difference.

The 42-year-old has worked in the health and social care industry for 12 years and believes that will help him in his new role.

Gene, now living in Stobswood, will focus on the home care and day services currently provided by Age UK Northumberland and is looking to introduce an updated community-based model on how the services are delivered in the rural areas of the community.

He said: “Age UK Northumberland is doing a fabulous job and I hope to work with commissioners and people who use services to explore a more up to date model of support to achieve peoples outcomes by delivery on quality, flexibility and choice.

“My aim will be to find more flexible solutions, recruit and retain quality people, find the right benefits for the team, and support more people in both home care and day services.”
