Three generations of one family came together to hold a joint celebration.

Deputy mayor of Blyth Town Council, Margaret Parker, and her husband Bob, celebrated 50 years of marriage with a blessing ceremony at Elsdon Avenue Church in Seaton Delaval, where they were joined by family and friends.

Margaret’s granddaughter Freya Gilligan-Evans had flown over from Queensland, Australia, to get her seven-month-old son Oliver christened at the church, and also joined in by getting christened herself.

Margaret, 77, said: “It was a fabulous day, with all the family together celebrating so many wonderful things.

“The vicar did a blessing for our wedding anniversary and carried out the christenings on Oliver and Freya, it was fabulous.”

Freya, 32, added: “My family had already come to Australia for my wedding so I wanted to do something in England for them to enjoy without having to travel.”
