Golfer aims to share his Pro dreams

A TOP amateur golfer looking to turn professional has released shares in a bid to help him reach his goal.

Mathew Webb, from Bedlington, has enjoyed a successful spell playing on the American College circuit following title wins in his home county.

Together with his family and coach, Mathew has set out a five-year plan taking him through the professional ranks to reach the European Tour.

In a bid to help raise the necessary money to play in tournaments, 250 shares priced at £100 each have been issued, with 27 being sold in the first hour and 112 being pre-allocated.

Each shareholder will be kept up-to-date with Mathew’s progress, with a chance to make a return on their investment.

He is planning on playing tournaments in Spain to qualify for the Alps Tour before heading to South Africa in January for the ‘The Sunshine Tour’ Qualifying School.

Anyone interested in purchasing shares in Mathew should contact his father Marcus, club professional at Bedlingtonshire Golf Club, on (01670) 822087 or 07714 612177. Alternatively, email atwebbmarcus2@aol.com

Marcus said: “It is expensive to play full-time professional golf and take the necessary steps to make it to the European Tour.

“All investment raised will contribute to travel and living expenses as well as tournament fees for the tours in which Mathew will play in 2013.”
