Gravestone damaged by vandals

POLICE are hoping to catch the vandals who damaged a gravestone in a Bedlington cemetery.

The damage to the grave in West Lea Cemetery in Netherton Lane, was caused between Thursday, February 28, and Wednesday, March 13.

A number of solar lights that had been left at the grave were also stolen.

Pc Craig Davison said: “To carry out damage like this to a gravestone is disgusting and causes a lot of anguish to the victims.

“We are carrying out enquiries into the incident and I’d urge anyone who knows who is responsible to report it to police.

“There is no place in our communities for anyone who thinks behaviour like this is acceptable.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191.
