Hundreds take part in active sessions
A PROGRAMME of activities funded by the Big Lottery Fund has helped children to stay active during the last half term holiday.
More than 1,000 young people attended activities throughout the week which included a wide range of sports sessions and camps aimed at contributing towards health and well-being.
In Blyth, an inclusion programme for people disabilities was attended by 60 young people, setting a new high for the number of people taking part.
The Ability to Play programme has attracted additional families since the introduction of ‘Stay All Day’ which includes lunch and activities such as bowling, ice skating and a cinema special at Blyth Sports Centre. The programme was supported by Aiming High funding.
Move It Community Dance Camps have been extremely popular which concluded with a Dance Show at Blyth Sports Centre on the final day of the programme.
A total of 70 young people performed in front of parents and family members, showing off dance routines which had been practiced throughout the week.
An extensive programme of activities were offered to families in Seaton Valley, Newbiggin, Morpeth and West Bedlington which were supported by local town councils in each area.
