Part of Northumberland College’s £9.5m investment is set to include brand new commercial hairdressing and beauty salons being installed.
The college said the investment will benefit current and prospective students as well as the local community as the salons introduce new advanced treatments and extended opening hours.
As part of the redevelopment, seven private new treatments rooms have been created in the fifth floor beauty salon, ‘The Graduate’, as well as a dedicated space for the latest intense pulse laser (IPL) equipment.
IPL is one of the most effective methods for hair removal, skin rejuvenation and thread vein removal using the latest technology.
Northumberland College now offer Level 4 courses in intense pulse light for those who wish to develop the required skills and competence.
The salon, which is open until 8pm Monday to Thursday, also offers a range of treatments including non-surgical facelifts, microdermabrasion and inch-loss treatments alongside massage, facials and manicures.
In addition to the new beauty salon, a brand new 14 station hairdressing salon with two treatment rooms and a nail bar and restaurant on the ground floor of the Ashington main building will be created over the summer to complete the commercial experience the college intends to offer.
