More than 100 children have taken part in a charity toddle event with a space theme.
Youngsters and their families from the Barnardo’s run Blyth Central and Blyth West Children’s Centres took to Ridley Park for the Barnardo’s Big Toddle event.
Costumes were made by parents and children before the event so children, staff and parents could all join in together and dress as aliens, monsters, space cadets, and planets following this year’s toddle fancy dress ‘Outer Space’ theme. After the toddle everyone took advantage of the good weather by enjoying snacks, playing with toys from the Sure Start Play bus and playing parachute games in the park.
Director of Barnardo’s North East, Steve Oversby said: “The Big Toddle for Barnardo’s is a great way for kids to get fit, raise money and have fun.
“The toddle is all about children helping children and we are aiming to raise £1m so that Barnardo’s can continue to help children under five.
“This year the Big Toddle is all about fun and encouraging play for under-fives and the theme is outer space, so at each toddle we are expecting lots of fancy dress, children’s entertainment and wonderful experiences at the toddles.
“The important thing is that children have fun at the toddles, get the opportunity to play and raise funds and awareness for disadvantaged children.”
