A care home resident has celebrated her 100th birthday with a day to remember.
Morpeth-based Riverside House care home resident Bessie McKay enjoyed a 100th birthday celebration with special guests, the Mayor of Morpeth, Coun Nic Best, and Mayoress, Joan Howard.
Bessie, who was born in Blyth and has lived in the area all her life, celebrated her milestone birthday, which coincided with National Care Home Open Day, with a garden party enjoyed by many members of her local community.
Making the day even more special, Bessie was presented with a card from the Queen.
The party, which was held in the grounds of the home, included stalls, refreshments and an entertainer, with all the money raised going towards extra treats for residents during the summer.
Annette Stephens, manager at Riverside House, said: “Bessie really enjoyed her 100th birthday celebration and it was fantastic that everyone at the home, and members of the local community, were able to share her special day.
“It was lovely to see Bessie having such a good time.
“The event also gave members of the public an opportunity to take a look around our excellent facilities, and see what we are really about.”
