Wansbeck MP Ian Lavery popped in to the House of Commons to see how British Heart Foundation shops are raising funds for research.
Mike Taylor, the charity’s retail director, said the idea behind the ‘pop-up’ shop at Westminister was to show MPs just how important its shops are in raising vital funds.
“Without our shop staff including 23,000 volunteers across the UK we simply could not continue our life-saving work,” he said.
Mr Lavery added: “The work of the British Heart Foundation has been central to the discoveries of vital treatments that are changing the fight against heart disease.
“Every pound raised and every donation made helps make a real difference to people’s lives.”
