Museum launches paper chase
THE search is on for documents linked to the Delaval family and their south east Northumberland home, Seaton Delaval Hall.
Staff at the county’s archives archives are hoping are appealing to anyone with such papers to share them or deposit them for storage at Ashington’s Woodhorn Museum.
Sue Wood, head of collections at the archives, said: “Large quantities of the Delaval papers were stored in Hartley Colliery’s office in the 19th century.
“The papers also include a set of quarrymen’s accounts from 1720, which are particularly interesting for anyone researching the history of Seaton Delaval Hall itself.
“It would be good to be able to make as much information as possible available to visitors, so we are looking to extend our collection.”
