Families in south east Northumberland wanting to lead a healthier lifestyle are being encouraged to sign up to fun, free programmes starting next month.
Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust’s ‘Get Active Northumberland’ (GAN) programme is running nine-week courses in Cramlington and Newbiggin to encourage parents and children between the ages of five and 13 to become more active.
The programme involves fun physical activities and learning about healthy eating.
The sessions start on Monday, September 22, at Hillcrest School in Cramlington, until November 24.
They start on Tuesday, September 23, at the Grace Darling Campus in Newbiggin until November 25.
Louise Ray, health improvement practitioner specialist at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, said: “The courses are a great way for parents and their children to learn about healthy eating and being active together and above all, they are a lot of fun.
“We would encourage people in these areas to get in touch with the team to find out more.”
Both sessions run from 4.15pm to 5.45pm, but do not run during half-term on October 27 and 28.
To attend these courses, families must contact the GAN team on (01670) 784194 or firstname.lastname@example.org
