VISITORS to a Cramlington shopping mall have been able to experience a little piece of Olympic history today.
Manor Walks Shopping Centre in Cramlington has partnered with Coca Cola to offer shoppers the unique opportunity to share Olympic history and have their photograph taken with one of the original torches from the 2006 Torino Winter Olympic Games.
Shoppers looking forward to the arrival of this year’s Olympic Torch which is due to travel through Northumberland in June, were today being given the chance to get in the Olympic mood with the chance to hold one of the original Torches from the 2006 Turin Olympics.
Manor Walks Shopping Centre general manager Bruno Coppola said: “We are very excited to bring such a momentous piece of Olympic history to local people, so they can share the sporting buzz that seems to be in the air at the moment.
“Everyone in the UK is eagerly anticipating the London Olympics this year, so it’s fantastic to offer local people a unique opportunity to be part the excitement with the chance to see and have their photo taken with an original Olympic torch from 2006.
“It is a fantastic achievement that we have managed to work with Coca Cola to get the 2006 Turin Olympic torch here today and ask the members of the public to enjoy the Olympic torch.”
David Ridley, a sales representative from Coca Cola, added: “It was great to bring the Torino Torch to the people of Cramlington. As everyone is focused on the events happening in London, it is good to be able to offer people outside of the capital a taste of Olympic legacy.”
