Opinion on improving park areas is wanted
Hirst Park, Ashington.
A SURVEY has been launched to find out what people think of parks in Northumberland.
Residents, visitors and businesses are being asked to have their say on the county’s parks and what improvements they would like to see.
Parks can provide free events, floral displays, walks, play and sporting activities, and more.
Some of Northumberland County Council’s parks are now actively supported by friends’ groups.
Trevor Violet, community spaces manager at the council, said: “The friends’ groups carry out a range of practical activities in the parks, from litter collection to planting and clearance works as well as raising funds for improvements.
“The new survey will provide friends’ groups with guidance on how they can further support the maintenance and development of these indispensable community facilities.
“I hope residents will help us with this survey and we will be very grateful for their contribution.”
Coun Alan Thompson, executive member for highways and neighbourhood services, said: “We are committed to valuing and improving our parks and would like you to tell us what you think of them.
“This will help us manage and maintain parks better for people who use them.”
It is the first survey to cover all county parks.
The survey is available online until March 31 via the council’s website under ‘New Consultation’.
It can be sent back to Nicola Wardle via Nicola.Wardle@northumberland.gov.uk or Nicola Wardle, Highways and Neighbourhood Services, Local Services Group, Northumberland County Council, County Hall, Morpeth, NE61 2EF.
