Organisation beats insulation target in Blyth

A BLYTH organisation has exceeded its own targets by having 6,300 insulation measures installed in Northumberland homes.

Northumberland Warm Zone works across the county to help people with energy advice, directing householders towards grant agencies where they can access help and support for works such as cavity wall and loft insulation, draughtproofing and in some cases central heating installation.

Director Alan Milburn said: "When I set the targets for the team last year I thought we'd be lucky to get around 5,000 measures installed, but to exceed 6,000 is magic.

"It is important to remember that each and every one of those insulation measures is helping a family to save money as well as helping the environment and reducing the energy demand of the county.

"I am proud of my team and our partners who have worked so hard to achieve this brilliant result."

Operations manager Dave Stephens added: "Energy efficiency is on everyone's lips and to achieve this result is great but it indicates to me that there is still a big job to do out there.

"We still have grants available for everyone and a simple phone call can result in a visit from our trained staff many of whom have recently achieved NVQ standard qualifications in energy efficiency.

"To those members of the public in Northumberland needing help and/or advice give us a ring – we are here to help."

Anyone wanting help or advice on the energy efficiency status of their home can call Warm Zone team a ring on (01670) 356642.
