Phil is appointed new area dean in the county
Father Phil Hughes-Crown Vicar of Seghill with Seaton Delaval and Holywell was recently Licensed by Bishop Frank White, the Assistant Bishop of Newcastle, as the new Area Dean of Bedlington Deanery.
A NEW area dean has been appointed for the Bedlington area.
At a packed out ceremony held at Seghill Holy Trinity Church, Father Phil Hughes – crown vicar of Seghill with Seaton Delaval and Holywell – was appointed in his new role by Bishop Frank White, the Assistant Bishop of Newcastle.
Mr Hughes’ mother Rosemary Hughes, and his sister Elaine Herwin came up from Shrewsbury in Shropshire, as well as his former church wardens Ken Hughes and Stan Woods, who attended from Harmondsworth in Middlesex.
A former airport chaplain, Mr Hughes said: “I am looking forward to taking on the challenge of looking after the deanery.
“My aim is to get to know the clergy and the people of the deanery, and to serve with commitment.”
