Police bring pedal power to village
A NORTHUMBERLAND Parish Council has paid for two bikes for their local neighbourhood policing team.
Thanks to Lynemouth Parish Council, the mountain bikes and associated equipment will be used in by neighbourhood beat manager Dave French and community support officers Andy Crosby and Neil Parkin.
Andy said: "Having the bike will allow me to get to Lynemouth easily and quickly and means I can spend my time more efficiently in the area, talking to local people about the issues that affect them and responding to their concerns.
"In the short time I have used the bike it has generated a positive response from residents and interest from youths in the area."
Dave French added: "This is another excellent example of partnership working in Lynemouth with the local parish council offering their support by funding the initiative.
"These bikes will be used alongside conventional methods of foot patrol in the area and they will help police engage with younger members of the community.
"The bikes allow us to patrol areas of the village including the tracks and allotments which are inaccessible by a car and means that we can provide a more effective response to a wider range of issues."
