BUDDING interior designers are showcasing their skills in a competition with a developer.

Pupils at St Wilfrid’s Primary School in Blyth are letting their imagination run wild with homebuilders Dunelm Homes.

The Year 6 students are creating a dream bedroom design for The Chase showhome in Blyth, due to open this spring.

The ten and 11-year-olds brainstormed ideas in a two-hour workshop to learn more about what they must include.

Dunelm sales advisor Maureen Williams said: “We were hoping to hear ideas which really brought to life the hopes and wishes of the younger generation and what they look for in a bedroom, and we certainly weren’t disappointed.

“Although we can’t guarantee that we can deliver a TV which acts as a sweet dispenser we will certainly take just about anything into consideration.”

The winner will work with an interior designer to turn their ideas into reality.

St Wilfrid’s headteacher Pauline Johnstone said: “Our pupils have thoroughly enjoyed working on a real design project.

“This is an exciting and interesting way and broadens our pupils’ understanding of not only the different types of careers available in design and construction, but also the process behind building new homes.

“The pupils came up with some wonderful ideas and are now hard at work creating their own bedroom which no doubt stretches the realms of imagination.”
