STUDENTS have been spot on in helping identify ways to tackle racism in society.
Pupils at Hirst Park Middle School, in Ashington, took part in a range of activities as charity Show Racism the Red Card visited the school last week.
The students looked at ways to promote race equality in the classroom by taking part in workshops, questionnaires and sports activities.
Former Newcastle United striker Richard Offiong and forward Trevor Benjamin – who played for Leicester City, England U21s and Jamaica – joined the youngsters in the workshops, talking about their experiences with racism.
A spokesperson for the school said: “It has been an enormous success with all the staff and students engaging in all the activities.
“We strive to educate all our students at Hirst Park to become model citizens within the community.”
