Youngsters from a special school in Cramlington have been getting to grips with nature as part of a week of project-based learning.
The pupils from Hillcrest School are taking part in the project to encourage greater awareness and understanding of the community.
Learning support assistant Lisa Grear said: “The children have been taking part in an orienteering challenge and doing sketches and artwork as well as creating a tabletop model of Northumberlandia and a PowerPoint presentation.”
The work is expected to go on show in the Northumberlandia visitor centre.
The students hope to encourage greater awareness of, interest in and use of Northumberlandia as a learning resource, specifically for primary age students.
A presentation of all the projects will take place in the school today (Thursday).
