A Bedlington resident has slammed the quality of repair work carried out at his bungalow by housing provider Bernicia.
The Ashington-based company carried out routine repair and maintenance work at David Bradford’s bungalow in Court Road, which included wiring and heating upgrades.
As a result, however, the 64-year-old was left with unskimmed walls, skirting boards that have not been glossed, poorly fitted taps and an uneven loft floor, despite the work being signed off as complete and approved by the firm.
David was given £170 worth of vouchers to buy paint and wallpaper but he fears that will not cover the cost of bringing his bungalow back up to standard.
David, who suffers with arthritis and spondylosis of the back, said: “I blame the organisation of the company.
“They have painters on the job. I think they are cutting corners.
“I’m going to have to get someone in to put everything right and I can’t afford that.
“I had a lovely bungalow before this all started.
“Personally, I think the £170 vouchers are an insult.”
A spokesperson from Bernicia said: “Customer satisfaction is a priority.
“Our standards for modernisation are high and we have robust procedures in place to monitor quality and performance in relation to the physical works whilst at the same time, having processes in place to respond quickly to any issues raised by our tenants.”
