Reverend take on all 214 fells for charity

Two church officials have ‘peaked’ in their latest charity challenge.

Revd Peter and Philippa Sinclair of The Vicarage, Newbiggin, have just finished climbing all 214 ‘Wainwrights’ – fells over 1,000 feet in the Lake District – as recorded by A. Wainwright.

The couple began fell walking in 2005, when a friend supported and encouraged Philippa to climb Helvellyn after she had been treated for back problems.

After the first climb, they started enjoying the challenge and decided to complete all of the Wainwrights fells.

In the last few months they have had the last ten fells sponsored to raise funds for Christian Aid, in order to spur them on to finish them.

They have just celebrated completing all 214 at the top of Holme Fell, with the friend who had inspired them, along with other family and friends.

So far they have raised more than £900 for Christian Aid.

Anyone wishing to donate to the couple’s cause can still do so by emailing Philippa at philippasinclair@hotmail.co.uk
