Roadshow to help answer questions about dementia

Shoppers will be able to get more information on dementia when a special roadshow comes to town.

Alzheimer’s Society Dementia Community Roadshow is visiting the Tesco superstore in Bedlington today (Thursday) and tomorrow to increase awareness and understanding of the condition which affects more than 30,000 people in the north east.

The pioneering national tour will offer free information and advice with anyone who has queries about the condition, as well as helping to promote the benefits of an early diagnosis.

It is open to people currently living with dementia, who are worried about a friend or relative’s memory or who just have questions.

Hazel Cuthbertson, Alzheimer’s Society’s regional operations manager for the north east, said: “Dementia is one of the biggest health and social care challenges of our generation, yet it continued to be a condition plighted with stigma and lack of understanding.

“This can mean that people who are worried about dementia, or simply want to find out more may not know where to turn.”
