AN MP has volunteered to repay more than £6,000 in claimed expenses.
Ronnie Campbell, MP for Blyth Valley, has vowed to repay expenses claimed under his second homes allowance.
Mr Campbell will repay 6,200 of public money he used to furnish a London home.
The Blyth-based MP was sharing London accommodation with another MP before moving in 2005, it was then he spent the money furnishing the new property.
Despite acting within the rules, this week Mr Campbell apologised, and admitted MPs should not be in a position to furnish their second homes on expenses.
Mr Campbell hopes other MPs will follow suit.
In a thinly veiled criticism of Labour cabinet members, he said: "At least I'm not stupid enough to claim my sister's bedroom as my main home."
