A charitable organisation has given a special award to pupils in five of the county’s schools.
The Rotary Club of Blyth has continued its Young Citizen of the Year awards by presenting five youngsters in south east Northumberland with a commemorative plaque for their schools as well as an individual shield and award.
President Bill Thompson said: “The pupils were chosen by the teachers and staff within each school for outstanding support to the community, both inside and outside of school.”
Ellicia Maughan from Malvin’s Close Academy, Charlie Thompson from St Wilfrid’s Middle School, Maya Brown from Newsham Primary School, Eleanor Turner from Seaton Sluice Middle School, and Rebecca Jackson-White from Morpeth Road Primary Academy, were all awarded the Young Citizen of the Year award by the president.
And Blyth Rotary’s Young Writer of The Year award was won by Sarah Walker,from Malvin’s Close Academy, with her essay entitled a day that changed my life.
