Ryan will take on triathlon in aid of charity

A Cramlington teenager is aiming for double success when he takes part in a 5k run and a triathlon to raise money for charity.

Ryan Clark successfully completed The Sunshine Run and now joins the Winn Solicitors team as part of the Newcastle Triathlon ‘corporate wave’ and is hoping that his fundraising goes as well as his training so far.

The 19-year-old said: “I’ve been training for a while now, but have definitely turned it up a gear recently, fitting in some exercise every day whether it’s running, swimming or cycling.

“My dad John has stepped in as my training partner, which is a great motivator for me, and my friends and colleagues at Winn have also all been great with their support, tips and advice.

“Knowing that my hard work and effort will benefit a good cause like the Sunshine Fund and disabled children makes it very worthwhile.”

Ryan’s fundraising will go towards the cost of a mobility trike for five-year-old Charlie Rath, from Fenham, who has Down’s Syndrome.

The Newcastle Triathlon takes place on Saturday, July 19.
