A Northumberland sailing club is hoping to get people out on the water next weekend as part of a special promotion.
To celebrate national watersports month, Newbiggin Sailing Club will open its doors on Saturday, May 17, and invite people of all ages and abilities to have a go at sailing.
The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) ‘Push the Boat Out’ weekend will see hundreds of people taking part in the sport at open days through have a go sessions and fun events for the family.
Saturday’s event starts at the Newbiggin club at 10am and runs to 4pm, where there will be a whole host of activities taking place.
Chris Hudson, commodore, said: “We are delighted to be taking part in the RYA Push the Boat Out, and we are inviting the local community to come down to the club, have a go at sailing, see what the club has to offer and get involved.”
RYA sport development manager Duncan Truswell said: “Push the Boat Out provides the perfect opportunity for people to discover their local sailing venue, meet key volunteers and like-minded people, have a go at the sport and find out how much fun it is and how easy it is to get involved.”
